Social Change Media is more than an advertising or PR agency. Our work aims to facilitate behaviour change by increasing the capabilities of individuals and communities to further their own aspirations.

Over the last 15 years have developed a unique strategic approach which is based on a seven step approach to community change.

The goal of our work is altered behaviour, not just raised awareness. This means focusing on the obstacles that prevent communities achieving their goals. These obstacles may include lack of skills, lack of infrastructure, lack of confidence, lack of policy, lack of ownership.in other words more than just lack of information.

We are expert communicators

We believe a successful social marketing campaign depends on:

  • campaign goals which accord with community aspirations;
  • well devised social research;
  • audience involvement (preferably in planning stages);
  • pre-testing of messages and materials;
  • a balanced mix of media, materials and face-to-face opportunities;
  • recognising and resourcing intermediaries whenever possible;
  • effective evaluation.

The most important starting point is an understanding of the needs and perceptions of the audiences. Focus group research and time spent with the target audience are valuable investments. Empathy, however obtained, is vital. Pre-testing of messages and materials is a standard part of our methodology.
